Sieda Neighborhood Resource Center (Community Action Agency)

Summer hours: May 1 - Sept. 30, Monday, 8:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. 

Winter hours: Oct. 1 - April 30, Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. 

  • Christmas for Kids: Apply at the Keosauqua Sieda office. Must meet income guidelines.
  • Child Development/Head Start: Center-based preschool meets (4) days per week, nutritious meals/snacks, health screenings, field trips, referrals, literacy/education needs, services/referrals for children with special needs, limited transportation provided. Must meet income guidelines or special needs criteria.
  • Behavioral Health & Treatment Services
  • Housing Stabilization Resource Center: Information & application for any Sieda program
    including LiHEAP (heat assistance), weatherization, utility bill assistance, budget counseling. Includes information & referral to other service agencies.
  • FDSS (Family Development & Self-Sufficiency): a trained family development specialist works intensively with families to stabilize and assist them to become self-sufficient. Work is done in-home through regular visits. Tools used are assessments, goal setting activities, support, advocacy, group meetings, special needs assistance and referrals to community resources.

Van Buren County Community Services - General Assistance

Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

General Assistance: must meet income and resource guidelines in order to receive County Medical Assistance. Also provides assistance with utilities, rent, food, clothing, funeral expenses, & transportation when all other sources have been exhausted.

Salvation Army: Providing immediate, but temporary emergency assistance that is not provided by another area agency. Types of crisis assistance is: transient meals, lodging, car repairs, gas, and medications.
